If you haven’t seen Mr. Brainwash, and you like abstract artwork you’re in for a treat.

I thought you might like to see how an artist uses the optin process to build his list.

Let’s start at the beginning.  Here is the home page from his site.  www.MrBrainwash.com

Right away you’ll notice it’s an artist site.  The point being, email marketing is not just for businesses.

The button which gets you to the list-joining page is “Push to Join”. Click on it and you’ll get to this page.

I like the throwback Mac as a graphic and it’s a pretty clear offer. The ONLY thing I would do different on this page would be to throw in a benefit to the reader for joining. What will I get if I fill in the form?  You can’t always expect your readers to know why they should join.

As you know, I’m a big fan of doing something productive with the Thank You page, the page you land on after a successful signup.

You’ll notice a simple “Thanks” message.  Adequate, but he could do so much more to connect with his audience.  I like to use this space to say for sure that the email signup process works.

If you plan to send an automatic and immediate “Welcome” message out, I would make sure to tell people right here in the Thank You page copy to check their inbox.

Overall, a nice clean process but like most others, missing out on the finer points which make email campaigns more effective right from the get go.

This is your first chance to make a GOOD first impression.
