I got a question from a prospect the other day.
The question was: “Where on the page should I place my sign up form?”
Good question. And there is a right and wrong answer.
The most viewed and most valuable real estate on a web page is the top
left corner. That is the spot to place your optin form. Here’s a pretty good example
of taking the top left corner. It’s a bit busy but you can see the offer.
Second best is top right on a page.
The wrong answer is anywhere else on the page and the absolute wrong answer
is below the fold (what you can see on a page before you start to scroll down.)
Now before you start sending me emails citing examples of BIG name web
sites with a sign up form at the very BOTTOM of a page you have to know
what my answer will be.
My answer is the only right way is to test your conversion rates with a sign up
form in the top left verses a sign up form at the bottom of a page.
Then you’ll know the exact right placement for YOUR site.
