10.  Make your autoresponder come from an actual person’s name–not an entity like info@ or sales@ or news@.  People want to deal with people.

9.  Your first autresponder message should be delivered right away.  Don’t send something in the next day or anything other than RIGHT NOW.

8.  Your first autoresponder message should be a simple thank you to confirm that the request to receive your message was received.

7.  You have to give before you get.  Don’t start asking for an order right away.  You have to offer some value to people WANT to hear from you.

6.  Your autoresponders have to go out with enough frequency to break through the 1,000’s of other marketing messages out there.

5.  Write your copy with lots of YOUS in the copy.  Compare that with the number of times your use the word ‘I’.

4.  Send autoresponders as often as you want.  I have one series that runs once per week for 52 weeks.  At the end, I get messages asking for the next message.

3.  Don’t over design the message.  That means no fancy html or css coding to create fantabulous design.  Simple is best.

2.  It’s all about the value.  If your autoresponder offers value, your readers will stay with you and you will ‘earn the right’ to try to sell something later.

1.  It’s all about them.  Your readers really don’t care about you.  They care about themselves.  If you can keep that in mind, and offer to help them, you can violate all of the previous 9 tips and your autoresponders will pay big dividends.
