There are many facets of email marketing and lead generation using email is one of the most common requests we get at ZinMarketing.
Here is kinda how the call goes.
“Hi, this is Mitch from ZinMarkting.”
“Hello, I’d like to buy a list of realtors in California and send them an email because I know they want to buy my . . .[insert product offer of your choice here]”
The logic of this kind of makes sense for doing lead generation because in the direct mail world this is a common process. You can buy a list and mail to your heart’s content.
But in the land of email lead generation this process is really challenging.
First, you need to find a list of realtors. Seems easy. You get offered lists all day long in your email but the reality is that you’re probably receiving good old fashioned spam.
There are over 100 list companies listed in the DMA directory and most offer some form of email lists.
Let’s say to find a broker who has such a list and buy or rent it to send your offer out.
Your next, and biggest challenge is how to send an unsolicited bulk email to this group with out having them mostly blocked, having them blocked by spam filters or without generating too many spam complaints.
This is where lead generation with email breaks down. If you can’t get an email delivered it doesn’t matter whether you send ten or ten thousand, they won’t get delivered and you won’t get ANY result.
We see this quite often. But, if you take a different perspective on how to reach new leads, or better yet to lead new leads to you, you’ll be on your way to getting online technologies like email work for you.
