I’ve been thinking a lot about unsubscribing lately. I receive lots of email because as part of my job, I follow some great email marketers.
Even though I asked to receive almost all of the emails I receive, there are some that just aren’t any good AND they aren’t that relevant to me personally or professionally.
Two things you should do here.
One, make it EASY to unsubscribe. Don’t make me remember which email address I used or what list I might or might not be on or make me go through several steps.
That’s just plain annoying.
At the same time, you can, and should ask the simple question. “Why did you unsubscribe?”
You’ll probably find what the studies have found. Most people unsubscribe because the messages they are receiving are NO LONGER RELEVANT.
You’ll also find lots of other relevant info too, but if you don’t have this data, you can’t analyze it.
