As a kid I was a big fan of the TV show, That Girl! starring Marlo Thomas.

Now I’m a fan of Marlo Thomas email marketing strategy.  I wrote about her newsletter and charter member strategy earlier.  Read about her advanced email marketing strategy here.

This is the email I received moments after joining her list.

This message has it all.

1. It’s personal.  The signature is a nice touch.

2. It’s well branded.  There is no question who it’s from.  The opening paragraph gives it a nice feel, supporting the brand.

3.  Social Media.  You betcha.  It reminds you to follow her on Facebook and Twitter.  I think it’s particularly smart to make a text link and not an image link for this.  Image blockers and all that.

4.  A call to action.  Bing, bing, bing, we have a winner.  The email reminds you to BUY THE BOOK.  Best part is she can watch her statistics and see how many books you sell from this simple thank you email.  This is real marketing. I love it.

This example has it all.  Check out your confirmation email and see if it looks like this or it looks like…thank you blah blah blah zzzzzzz.
