Apple has proven again and again that they know how to get things right.  Over the past two years I’ve become a big fan of Apple as they get more of my disposable income.  But they deserve it.

Their email success story is tied to the launch of the iPad.  It was a great launch.  The time however between the announcement and the ship date was how long?  Announced somewhere around January 27 and Shipped April 3.

What to do in the interim?  Collect email addresses of interested parties, that’s what.

There are two good practices here.

1.  ABC – always be Collecting.   They didn’t have to build a list of interested parties.  They had it all.  Anticipation, fan base, media frenzy.  But they did. What can you do with a list of a few million interested parties?

2.  Keep your check box on.  In addition to building the iPad list, they are continuing the build the list of peeps looking for the ‘latest information on products and services.’

Then after you sign up you see this screen.

This simple practice of showing a Thank You page after the sign up is often overlooked.  Especially if you are using an iContact or Aweber-like system.

If you don’t specify a Thank You Page after sign up you miss an opportunity to show your professionalism and brand.  You ARE Apple.  Take the high road.  Quality work never goes out of style.

You’ll hear that theme a lot from me regarding email marketing.  Make your own email success story and pay attention to these details.  Your brand will thank you.
